BE THE CHANGE  is a social movement led by young people. Its goal is to transform cities based on sustainability and inspire new behaviours and ways of life through arts and technology.

THE FUTURE IS SOMETHING TO BE CLAIMED, BUT SOMETHING TO BE BUILT!

CEiiA statement

AÇÃO 1   TO CREATE ARTISTIC MANIFESTOS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

This action, aimed at 9th-grade students, aims to raise awareness, and mobilize the school community towards sustainability through the arts, encouraging sustainable behaviors. With the support of teachers, students create manifesto posters that convey their messages for building a sustainable city.

Forum theatre sessions held in schools will promote debate on topics associated with sustainability and help to construct these messages. Artistic collectives collaborate with them to transform ideas into posters.

Ultimately, the posters are displayed on city urban furniture to inspire citizens to integrate sustainable practices into their actions.

AÇÃO 2  DECARBONIZING MOBILITY IN THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

This action encourages students in grades 10 to 12 to use sustainable mobility modes (bus, metro, bicycle, and walking) by quantifying the carbon emissions avoided during their home-to-school and school-to-home journeys. The AYR application, developed by CEiiA, allows avoided emissions to be calculated in real time and converted into tokens (AYR dots). These tokens represent the student's contribution to the decarbonisation of the city.

The school community challenges municipalities to monetise AYR dots at the local carbon price, with a view to financing sustainable projects in the city and rewarding students' sustainable behaviours.

Young people become agents of change, inspiring families, friends, and communities to reduce carbon emissions daily.
